Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

21 August 2022

We are really pleased to introduce our new Mental Health First Aiders.  These staff have attended training that will help them to support their colleagues at Ordinary Lifestyles.

The training was provided by MHFA England and covered:

  • An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening

Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix.

We now have a Health and Wellbeing group which is in it’s early stages.  Our first event is a Dog Walk and Talk and is taking place on the 31st August and is for the health and well-being of both the people we support and our staff.  We can’t wait to see those wagging tails, get some fresh air (and cake!) and put smiles on our faces 😊 woof woof!
