David McGovern, CEO

I have forty years of experience in both the Public and Non-Profit sectors, with the later twenty of these at a senior level with my last position being an Executive Director in a large NHS Trust having previously held positions in Social Housing, Transport, Central Government and Policing.

I have also spent a large amount of time volunteering in my local community for most of my adult life and have volunteered for a number of Charities in that time. The highlight being the 12 years he spent as the Chair of Manchester’s LGBT Foundation.

I come to Ordinary Lifestyles with a passion for the cause and recognise an organisation that has done some brilliant work over its 30+ years.

In 2010, I was awarded an Honorary Degree by The University of Salford for my work on LGBT issues and named Charity Chair of the Year at The Third Sector National Awards in 2013. In 2016 I was also appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant in Greater Manchester.

I live in my beloved Salford with my husband Darren, and like nothing more than spending an evening at the theatre or eating out.

Don’t ask me about the music of Kate Bush or David Bowie as I will not stop talking for hours.
